Hobbies for parents

Hobbies are a great way to relax and recharge from the daily routine.

I have several hobbies that I bounce between from time to time and year to year.  I’m normally pretty obsessive when I return to a hobby, so I can only do one or two at a time.

Every fall, one of the hobbies is attending Iowa Hawkeye football games.  We’ve had season tickets for around 18 years.  And it takes up the entire Saturday on the home games since it is about a 4 hour commute each way.  And then a few hours on most of the away games that I watch on TV.

My other hobbies bounce between reading, writing, running, and other odd things that don’t pop up that often.

Right now, I’m going through a writing phase again.  Fiction, that is.  Blogging is something different.  So, I’m working on a Halloween horror story that I’m going to turn into a PDF and let anybody on the internet read it for free.

I’m also going to be releasing a bunch of teasers, fake news stories, and scenes from around the town that are not associated with the core store in another blog that I run.

If you are interested in keeping track, the blog is Kalbzayn’s World and everything pertaining to the story will be listed under the Curse of the Five Pennies category.

What hobbies are you obsessing about these days?

Reading is always a hobby of mine. Every once in awhile I pick up the guitar, my old clarinet, or the keyboard for some music. I get on a hiking kick or making gifts for people a couple times of the year… but reading is the only one that stays all the time. It seems to get harder to keep up with the others as I get older.
