This fall will be the first year that my parents have had a totally empty nest, as my 18 year old sister is graduating from high school and going off to boot camp and job training. I know it will be different for them, but I don't think as weird as when I left for college back in 2006. Just because they have had that time to adjust to having one kid gone. What will be weird is my sister being gone for such a long stretch without coming home. I am at my parents' all the time, but since she'll be doing the whole national guard thing, she won't randomly be popping in for dinner or staying for a weekend. In fact, it's kind of freaking me out probably as much as it does my parents...I haven't seen my sister every single day in years, but I have seen her on the weekends so having her gone for so long is going to be weird. My random adventure buddy will be gone for MONTHS!
