I have been doing an amazing (for me) job of doing exactly the homework that I have scheduled. Each Sunday, I log into Remember the Milk and add all of the things that I need to get done between my two real classes and my forced Calculus review.

And then each night I do the tasks that I scheduled for that day.

And so far I am exactly on pace.

I’m about 2 1/2 weeks into the 8 weeks. I’m getting A’s in both the classes. I’m expecting to have a better than average chance of handing onto the A in the computer sci class and about a 50/50 chance of getting an A or B in the Chemistry class. I have the first big test (chapters 1-4) in the Chemistry test later this week and after that I’ll have a better idea which way I’ll probably fall. If that all holds true, than the summer of graded work will have been a success.

I’ll be finishing Chapter 3 of the Calculus review tomorrow. Chapter 4 is where they introduce integrals so tomorrow will be the end of the basic derivatives and their applications. It is going remarkably well. I had been worried that I would be ready for Calc 3 in the fall. I think there is a 95% chance I’ll be more than ready and probably a 10% chance that I’ll actually push through all of that material this summer, too.

The last couple days, I’ve been able to read the information, do a few of the exercises and just move onto the next lesson because I’m so sure that I know it. Up until now I’ve been doing almost all of the exercises that have answers in the back of the book. Back in college I only did the assigned problems and never did more because I always knew that I knew the material after that. It’s nice to have a couple nights where I can get that confidence back.

For the record, all of you college kids that wander from high school to college and take your 12 credit hours of classes a semester for 5 years, I don’t want to hear that you don’t have time to do your homework anymore. Oh, and BAGD from 1993. Stop calling me and complaining that you don’t have time to do your homework. Put the Sega Genesis John Madden Football away. What a wuss that guy is!
