Ordinary painting gets a bit old after a while, even if you are a kid. Try this to liven up your painting sessions.

Draw very simple holiday shapes on heavy weight paper or lightweight cardboard. We used poster board and drew a tree, a snowman, a stocking and a star.

Cut out the shape to make a stencil.

Place the stencils on paper and show the kids how to paint inside the shape. You may want to tape the stencil to your paper so it does not move.

The kids will be amazed when they remove the stencil and see a near-perfect shape underneath.
