Pookie’s Nighttime Book

Pookie has a laminated book that we call his Nighttime Book. It shows him all the steps he needs to do in order to get ready for bed, one on each page. The goal is that someday he will not need the book, that he will have the steps memorized and will not need any prompts from us. He likes the book. After each task, he gets to move a card from the “not done” position to the “all done” position.

Truthfully, he has the entire process memorized, but the book helps him stay on track and not get distracted. Its a common tool for ASD. But it would be helpful for any kid that needed some prompts in order to get ready for bed at night, or do any chore.

That is a great idea. I think I might need to get that book for a friend of mine who is having trouble getting her toddler to go to sleep at night.

I think my daughter could use something like that. Routines are very important to her. Great idea!
