Sometimes my kids just do not want to play with me

Beagoodmom worked a swing shift today because our babysitter situation is going to be a little odd for a couple weeks. I’ll try to talk about that in the next couple days.
I got home and got Pookie off the bus and then picked up Geetle from an afternoon playdate she was at. We all arrived back at the house around 4pm. Pookie was being particularly echolalic and slightly whiny. I sat with him on the couch and tried a few things, unsuccessfully, to shift the echolalia into a bit of conversation. After about 15 minutes, I mostly gave up and just sat on the couch with the kids.
By this point, Geetle had already brought her pillow from her bed down to the couch and was snuggled up listening to me and Pookie.
I decided to see how she was doing and pulled back the pillow she was using more as a blanket. This is what I found.

Pookie was not sleeping. He likes to take a container and stuff play food into it. He always chooses a container that is just slightly too small for the amount of play food that he has. I think he gives himself bonus points when he finds a way to pile it up without anything falling down.

Geetle slept like that for about 1 1/2 hours before dinner. I may or may not have fallen asleep for a couple minutes. We ate cereal for breakfast and everybody was asleep again at about 7:15pm after reading Duck In The Truck and Go Dog Go.
