Potty Training, its a one-way street

NASA Astronaut Lisa Marie Nowak was arraigned Tuesday on charges that she attempted to kidnap and harm a romantic rival. She drove 1000 miles from Texas to Florida to confront the rival at the Orlando airport. She needed to be there by the time the rival’s flight landed. In order to do so, she wore a diaper to avoid having to waste time stopping for bathroom breaks. Never mind the fact that she probably still had to stop for gas. This is an interesting story, it raised one very important question for me.

If needed, could I force myself to pee anywhere other than in a toilet? I don’t think I could. My potty training was so successful that today, as an adult, I can’t ever go back. Its probably different for men, but I think most women could not wet themselves on purpose. I honestly do not think I could make it flow unless I was sitting on a toilet.

Am I alone in this?

I think you’re alone in *pondering* this question, yes. ;)

I know for a fact that I can pee without using a toilet. The bigger question in my mind would be whether or not a potty trained adult, while sober and not sick and not in a swimming pool, could be in their pants or not.

If anybody experiments, please feel free to let us know the results.

We were just talking about this ;) . DH thinks that it’s because up in space, they use them all the time, so it’s more natural to her. I said the same as you, she already had to stop for gas, what is two more minutes to go in the toilet?? I’d surely be stopping for a few minutes. Plus, what’s the rush to get into jail?? ;)

As an avid outdoors(wo)man, I go outside all the time, but it’s not in a diaper. As an avid scuba diver, who often dives in a dry suit (for those not in the know, it’s like a wet suit only – surprise! – you stay dry and therefore warmer), I have to admit I used Depends once on a dive. It was the hardest thing I ever did. It was easier to contemplate going in a wet suit than it was to use a diaper; what if it leaked? Ultimately I went ahead and installed a pee valve on my dry suit (something that mostly men do) because I couldn’t do the diaper thing. I won’t give details of what *that* involves but it’s far more pleasant than going in a diaper!
