This is fifth in my series on handling infant twins. These are questions I was asked in the past.

Q: Do you have extra help?
A: Do we have a nanny? No, we do not. Do we have a babysitter who watches the kids while I work part-time, yes we do. Do we need any help with the day to day? No, not really. It is 2 babies, not 7. Like any children, twins fit easily into the rhythms of family life. You can take them to the grocery store! You do not need a babysitter while you go to get your oil changed!

When we go to family parties or events, we often take advantage of the extra help offered by our family and friends. It’s nice to know that Grandma will watch one baby at the Christmas party, making sure the cat does not pounce him. I’ts also important to foster bonds between the babies and the rest of the family. But that’s the fun “spending time with loved ones” kind of help. We encourage that. But we do not think twins require the “let the nanny deal with it” kind of help.
