The discussions can get quite lively sometimes! One of the autistic authors on the Hub is Amanda Baggs, who writes the <a href="http://ballastexistenz.autistics.org" rel="nofollow">Ballastexistenz</a> blog (the title is German for "ballast-existence" and comes from Nazi descriptions of the disabled, which were frighteningly similar to recent media articles about the cost of autistic people to society). She uses an augmentative communication device and was interviewed on CNN in February. Her essays are always thought-provoking. He's 7 now and I can't believe his growth and development just since we moved in last summer. I visit with his mom often and he enjoys playing with my kids. I've had a few other friends and family that have experienced life with autism and I am constantly amazed at how much there is to help these days and how far their kids are coming. It is truly, truly amazing and inspiring to me. I'll bet Pookie has given you more than a few proud moments as dad. Not that Geetle hasn't too, I just know how much it means to watch your kids overcome obstacles and there's no words for it.
