Time for some prizes - My New Favorite Number
Post written by: beagooddad
It makes me happy to know that I am not completely talking to myself and so to thank you all, I want to give away a few prizes. But, this isn’t a soup kitchen. You are going to have to do a little work to win one of the prizes.
First, a brief sidebar. My new favorite number is 205. Think you know why? Or can you at least make up an entertaining guess? Or are you just lucky? Than you might be able to win one of the prizes.
The rules
Now, here’s where your work comes in. You need to write a blog post explaining your theory on why 205 is my new favorite number. Include a link back to my blog. Then, let me know about your post either through a trackback, comment, or email. Just to be safest, you might want to send me an email using the Contact Me at the top of the page.
You can’t just say that 205 is BeAGoodDad’s new favorite number because he likes Oreo’s, for example. You need to accurately describe where the 205 fits in. For example, 205 is BeAGoodDad’s new favorite number because Oreo’s still taste great but now an entire box only has 205 calories. Oh if only it were true.
Four ways to win
1) Figure out why I love the number 205 so much. If your post is the first one that correctly identifies what the number 205 means and why I like it so much, then you are a winner. First will be determined by the time I am notified by email, trackback, or comment. I’m expecting exactly zero correct responses. It wouldn’t be any fun if it was easy, would it?
2) Make up something good. If your theory is the weirdest, funniest, or most amusing, then you will win a prize. Weirdest, funniest, or most amusing will be entirely up to my mood at the time I am deciding. This will be like winning the gold medal in gymnastics. Make the judges happy. By the way, I am the judges.
3) If more than 25 people participate, then I will pick a random winner using the magic random dartboard. You might want to tell your friends to enter.
4) If more than 205 people participate, then I will pick another random winner. You might want to tell your friends’ friends to enter, too.
Clues
Tomorrow I will write a post containing clues. They will probably have nothing to do with the real reason I love the number 205, but you will never know if you don’t play along.
The Prizes
I was going to give out candy bars for prizes but figured I would have to actually take a trip to the post office. I decided to go with good old Amazon Gift Certificates. You can buy pretty much anything you want on Amazon from the comfort of your own house. For each prize, I will be giving away one $25 Amazon Gift Certificate.
Legal mumbo jumbo
Each person or site can only win one of the prizes. You can not sue me or complain about not winning.
Also, while you can speculate as much as you want in the comments, all guesses in the comments will not be eligible for prizes.
When the contest is over, I will make a post containing links to all of the entries so that we can all go visit each other and make fun of the guesses.
The Deadline
All entries must be received by midnight March 4th. I will announce the winners and provide links to all of the entries on March 6th.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, let me know in the comments or send me an email. If you notice any horrible typos or logic errors in this post, let me know and I’ll fix them.
UPDATE (2/23/2007)
I realized late last night that I will be hosting the Carnival of Family Life on March 5th. I’m going to push the deadline back exactly one week. So, you need to enter by March 11th and I will announce the prizes and link to your guesses on March 13th. Sorry about that. I won’t change the date again.

Trevor. I can’t believe the first person that entered got it exactly right. NOT! Don’t worry though, there are still three more opportunities for you to win.
Thanks for entering.

Okay, I’ll play along and make an uneducated guess. LOL! But I think I should wait for the clue first.

My guess is over at:
and I really hate to say this, but if I’m right, and it seems like a good bet to me, it was easy.
All right, I used to set type by hand, and that teaches you a good feel for word counts. There aren’t many people out there with that experience. So I suppose it’s a bit like saying brain surgery isn’t easy: it isn’t - except for a brain surgeon.
