Career dreams can be tough when you are afraid to be alone

by beagooddad on March 15, 2007

Geetle wants to be a rocket ship driver.  That has been her dream for several months now.

I think that is a fine idea.  If rocket ship drivers in the future become like pilots are today, I could be in position to get some free trips to the moon in about 25-40 years.  BeAGoodMom has already stated that she is not planning on leaving the atmosphere, but I will be on board any flight to outer space that I can get on.

The big career plan might have hit a snag the other day, though.  I was alone in the car with Geetle and Pookie.  I mentioned how big they are getting and how it won’t be long before they are driving themselves around.

Geetle started getting nervous, “I don’t want to be by myself.”

I explained how much fun it will be for her and Pookie to hop in a car and head to T-Man’s house when they are older.

She got very nervous.  Almost to tears.  She said, “I just want to be with you and mom.”

“How are you going to be a rocket ship driver if you won’t drive a car by yourself?”

“I know.  Maybe you and mom can come with.”

I think my odds of ever traveling to the moon just went down significantly.
