		<description>Thanks for the advice.  One of the things they constantly reinforced during that seminar is to get everything that we want into the IEP and to make sure we understand every word in the IEP.

I&#039;m looking forward to getting their help getting prepared for mediation and anything else we might need.  It will definitely make us more confidant going into the meetings.</description>

		<description>I was in special ed in middle and high school.   We had to fight tooth and nail to get the accommodations I needed.  it was a mess. I eventually had to go to a special boarding school.   good for you for being on this from day one.  

my biggest advice is to be very vigilant about exactly what gets on those IEPs.  sometimes they will try to label the kid based on reports from untrained mainstream teachers.

they tried to label with me as having Oppositional Defiant Disorder because I told teachers when the were wrong.  my parents and I spoke up and kept that from getting in the final IEP. that label could have led to me being forced into a program for delinquent teens instead of where I ended up, a college prep school with small classes and teachers with training on disabilities.</description>
