Watching a nephew is very fun work! At the end of the day Pookie, Aunt Shel and €œMy Mark€? were covered from head to toe in popcorn, goofy videos, toy cardboard boxes, and milk stains…

Pookie, Aunt Shel and €œMy Mark€? (Pookie says that his best friend is €œMy Mark€? not just €œMark€?) had a slumber party this past weekend. We had such a great time with Pookie. I was a little worried that Pookie would have problems staying with us overnight. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Pookie was dropped off by BeaGoodMom and BeaGoodDad early on Saturday morning. We quickly decided to go to IHOP to get a Funny Face Breakfast…it wasn’t that funny, but chocolate chip pancakes sure made me jealous! Pookie had been talking about the local children’s museum for a while and soon we were on our way. Unfortunately, there was an accordian player that was pretty distracting to Pookie. We left after only 45 minutes. Pookie was very relieved to leave that area and played with his new noisemaker toy from the gift shop all the way home. We stopped by some stores for the necessities: toy castle, videos, and happy meals for lunch…Just the essentials!

The evening went off without a hitch. Lots of castle fun! The plan for Macaroni and Cheese was changed when Pookie saw €œMy Mark’s€? PB&J sandwich. He started chanting this really cute song about how to make a PB&J sandwich. I now know the proper way to make a PB&J. Bath time soon followed. We painted works of art with the washable paint in the bath tub. Then we vegged like three peas in a pod watching thought-provoking films such as €œCars€? and €œVeggietales€?. **RING RING** Busted! BeaGoodMom called to check in just as Pookie reached for another handful of popcorn 2 hours after normal bedtime. We went to sleep shortly after proudly breaking the rules! Not a sound was heard from Pookie all night.

It must be said that the sweetest sound in the world is Pookie singing €œYou are my sunshine€? as a wakeup call.

€œMy Mark€? and I agree that we need to have 4 year old slumber parties more often!

(Note from BeAGoodDad: If you haven’t heard or read Duck For President you haven’t been around my house very much. Go buy the book. It is a great one and will make that intro even more impressive)
