We are now proud members of the Brookfield Zoo. Yesterday, we loaded the wagon into the minivan and headed off to take advantage of our free parking.

It was chilly but we are able to see plenty of animals. The kids really seemed to enjoy the water animals like the dolphins and sea lions the most.

We also saw the lions and tigers and bears, oh my…and hippos and elephants and meerkats. BeAGoodMom made a little homemade book for each of the kids so they could identify a bunch of animals and we could write their name and a little info about what they were doing. The kids love these books and read them frequently after the event.

There are a lot of amazing things we saw at the zoo including a five minute rain shower during lunch when we already happened to be under the umbrella at the picnic table. I learned just how big tigers really are. This is supposed to be life sized. Wow.

I saw something this trip that I have never seen at any zoo before. In fact I have never seen anything like this out in public before. Words fail to describe the awesomeness of it so I’ll show you a picture:

Pookie's first public potty pee

That is not just any men’s room. That is the creepy, dirty men’s room where Pookie first peed outside of our house and his Grandma’s. He went through a couple pull-ups throughout the day and wasn’t particularly happy that we stuck around in the stall as long as we did but in the end the flow started, the high fives were issued, the M&Ms were eaten, and a commemorative photo was taken.

I told you there are some amazing things to see at the zoo.
