Infertility Series Announcement
Post written by: beagooddad
If I have my years correct, almost exactly 5 years ago on my wife’s birthday, we found out that I am infertile. Talk about a crappy, painful birthday. I never thought to look for information on the internet but we managed to make it through everything just fine and eventually had Pookie and Geetle to show for our efforts.
In the years since, I have stumbled across several blogs where people discuss their infertility. Every single one of them is written by a mother. I figured that I should add to the dad side of the story.
I am going to do a series of posts about the different aspects of infertility and the solution we used to have children, IVF.
One thing to remember. I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express and got an A in an Anatomy and Physiology class, but I am not a doctor. Take anything you see here as my experiences. Your results will probably differ. In all aspects, you should listen to your doctor before me. But, feel free to ask your doctor any questions about anything that you see here. I had to push my doctor to get me tested. There will be some technical detail, but I will try to keep it light and something that even I can understand. Feel free to correct me in the comments if I make mistakes.
Here are the topics I plan to cover.
- You’re infertile - now what?
- IVF - what is it, what are the risks, what are the options
- You want me to stick that where - giving your wife shots
- Just how many babies are you going to have anyway?
- Making the announcement
- Does the Pope really hate me?
- Hello, I’m your younger sibling…well kind of
- What do you do with the leftovers?
If you have any questions that you would like me to try to answer during the series, you can ask it in the comments or by clicking the Contact Me toward the top of the page.
I am planning on adding a new post about every day, but there will probably be a couple times where I miss a day. I’ll be back. I promise. If you don’t want to sit around checking this page every five minutes waiting for the next post, consider subscribing to my feed using the RSS icon on the left sidebar. If that last sentence is gibberish, let me know and I can explain how you can keep track of all your favorite blogs in one easy place that will let you know when any of them have been updated.

I’ll have to give you a call some day and talk you through setting it up. I can’t believe I keep forgetting to show you how to do that.

Hello there. I believe you are the first male written blog I have found other than myself writing about their experiences and who has kids via DI. I look forward to reading yor posts. - Eric

I actually just read through your infertility series and I may have misread the earlier post. I am not sure if you used DI or not but again you are the only active MFI IVF blogger out there.
