Overtime and a Call For Help
Post written by: beagooddad
I have an potential overtime project that I am trying to get. It would be about 3 weeks and require me to work nearly an extra 8 hours a day. Why would I consider such a foolish thing?
BeAGoodMom is not eligible for FMLA this time because she does not work enough hours per week. So for the 6 weeks after the Taco Supreme is born, we will be without her pay check. If I work this one crazy assignment, we can save almost dollar for dollar what she will not be bringing home during that time period…and we’ll be doing the crazy overtime at a relatively calm part of the pregnancy.
I should know if I get the assignment in the next day or two.
Anyway, I will be busy and will not have much time to post during that time. BeAGoodMom is frantically hammering away at her keyboard as I write this to get a few posts in the ToBePosted status.
Would any of you be interested in writing a post for BeAGoodDad? I would love to get as many people as possible. It would be a neat way for the people that read this blog to discover your blog and for some of your readers to maybe end up over here.
I only have a couple things that I would want to see. During these guest posts I would prefer for them to be informative rather then personal stories. The personal stories can be mixed in, but the posts should offer some kind of tips or advice or…well, you let me know what you are thinking. The should in some way, shape or form relate to parenting or kids or something that fits this blog…even if it is something like ways to use Google Calendar to keep track of your family.
The posts should be between 300 and 1000 words.
You should put something at the end of the beginning of the post that introduces yourself and links to your blog if you have one.
That reminds me of another thing, feel free to contact me even if you do not have a blog but would like to try writing a post.
I would like to schedule posts starting on June 1st. I will schedule one a day for as many days as I can get volunteers for for (yes that double for was intentional) the month of June. If by some odd stroke of oddness, more than 30 people are interested, I’ll start doubling up some of the days.
If you are interested, I have a contact form you can use. Let me know what you are interested in writing about. If you can’t think of a topic but want to write something, let me know and I’ll try to help us come up with something.

I have 2 purposes with this comment. #1 BAGM is eligible for FMLA. Everyone in these United States is. She is just not eligible for short-term disability during her FMLA. And that, sadly, is true for most people. #2 I shall be writing my installment shortly and you should have it sometime around June 8th.

You are correct about that FMLA/short term disability thing. Thanks for correcting that.

Mike, I’ll make sure this is on my own to do list too. I’d be happy to help!
I’ve also posted a little call out to MomGadget readers so hopefully we can get you enough posts to see you through.

Drop me a line, I’d love to help out. Couldn’t find your email otherwise I would’ve wrote ya personally. I know I’m not a dad but I’ve lived both roles while daddy has been to Iraq.
