Is there a commuter train where you live? If so, consider taking your kids for a ride someday. We did this last summer and both kids loved it. We got on around 10:00 am when the crowd was very light. We ate Lunchables on the train, got off after a few stations and then got back on a train heading towards home. Mr. Conductor even gave us souvenir tickets. Technically, we did not go anywhere, we just rode the train. Big fun.

Whenever we go to London the highlight of the trip for the children is riding on the tube trains (the subway in translation).
And they love the double decker buses.
At home we tend to walk (to school) or drive (for days out), so it’s a treat for them to use public transport.
