The kids got an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas from my grandparents. Then we learned about the recall because the oven presents a risk of “Entrapment and burn hazard.”
We filled out their form and mailed it in months ago; like back in January/February. We still have not heard anything.
The oven has been sitting in the spare bedroom which is about to become Taco Supreme’s bedroom. We’ve been doing a little bit of rearranging to start getting the room ready and I keep seeing the oven every time I walk in there.
I just noticed that they have a 800 number (1-800-327-8264) that we can call instead of sending in the form. They’ll be getting a call tomorrow.

When I heard about this recall all I could think was:
It’s an over for heaven’s sake.
It seems like one should teach a child to not reach into a hot oven (and children should probably not be cooking unsupervised if for no other reason than cleanliness sake). Perhaps it’s a bit Darwin of me, but I just don’t think it needs a retrofit.
I have a certain amount of understanding of what you are saying, Brian, but what happens when one of your kids falls and chips a tooth and while you are helping, the other kids tries to get the cake you were cooking out of the Easy Bake and burns themselves. That’s why they need the retrofit. Legal reasons. We still use the oven and are just a little more cautious about it.
hehe I got the darn thing stuck in it the very first time we tried to use it. Told hubby this is dangerous, what if our girls had tried this. We did figure it out later and girls can use it, but ONLY with us.
