Pretty sad. Too bad there's not really anything anyone can do about it.

They bummed me out. The school ones are not so far out of balance to be too panicked over, but the prison/suicide/depression stats scare me.

These were pretty shocking statistics, Mike.

Raising boys in this world is a tough gig, especially when the men themselves are out of touch with their emotions. It's a subject tackled in Raising Cain by Dan Kindlon and Michael Thompson. Not to be too down about it, but it's a long a difficult road to turn this trend around. Men have to sort their own issues out before they can raise well-balanced boys themselves. It's not easy.

The good news is that there are plenty of Dads around who are "in the know", and want to do something about it. It's a start.
