When Things Change Like Flipping A Light Switch

Between 4:00pm and 6:00pm tonight, Pookie peed on the floor 4 times. I sent him upstairs to change each time. Took away the toy that was distracting him a couple times and figured it was just a bad day.

Then before heading up to bed at 6:30 (they were both very tired tonight), I said “Go try to go potty,” while he ran by. He went into the bathroom, shut the door, made a variety of noises including banging the cabinets and flushing the toilet twice, and then finally came back out.

He didn’t ask for M&Ms, so I sent everybody upstairs. When we were getting ready for bed, I realized that he had pooped while in the bathroom. I took him to the bathroom to help him wipe and we went to get dressed.

Before putting his night time pull-up on, he ran back into the bathroom, peed, flushed the toiled and came back to get dressed.

Things really can change that quickly.

Geetle fell asleep before dinner and was insanely tired during the meal and getting ready for bed. She was grouchy and moody from waking up.

When I started reading the story, she perked up and was practically giddy until I tucked her in.

I think a lot of their problems tonight were caused by boredom. They had to play independently while I did some cleaning and vacuuming before dinner.

Besides waiting to get for things to change, there are a couple things you can do to help your kid when they get bored and crabby.
