More Posts To Come Tomorrow

I don’t often comment or explain when my posting frequency goes down.  We all have real lives that take priority over this type of stuff and you could always subscribe to the feed and never have to actually visit the site again except to comment.

I’m going to make an exception today, though.  I tried upgrading from WP 2.1.3 to 2.2.1 during lunch today hoping that it would fix the crappy load times that I have been noticing (by the way, does this site seem slow to everybody else?).  I’ve done a bunch of upgrades in the past but must not have paid quite enough attention today and deleted or modified something that I shouldn’t.

And I broke it.  So this site was down for like 4 or 5 hours today.  But, it looks like I was able to get it fixed pretty quickly after work.

So, I’m taking the rest of the day off from the blog.  I’m going to let it rest and recover.  I’m not going to poke it with any more sticks.

But I’ll be back tomorrow with a new post in the Autism Series about discipline.  See you then.

Oh man, I feel your pain. I love WordPress but updating the WordPress files or a theme or a plugin is a very tense time for me. I had one of my professional blogs down for three weeks after I did a WP upgrade. Nothing would display. I fiddled for days then weeks. So frustrating. I just wrote a post about what I’ve learned to do to minimize the risk. Maybe you’ll find something useful here:

Definitely walk away, take deep breaths, get outside for a bit. The Internet will be ready when you get back.

I’ve taken a whole week of blogging off before… don’t worry about it! Sometimes we all need a break. Get some rest!
