We use a GF/CF diet for our 2 sons with autism, and we definitely notice a difference. So much so that when we deviate from that diet, both of our sons digress, and take days to return to where they were. I am a firm believer that diet helps to control some of the symptoms.

We tried a gluten free diet with our son. We didn't notice any significant changes, and it was really hard on the rest of the family (that food is terrible...). But you have to try everything you can, right? Whatever helps...

Great post.

This is such a positive post... and I 'heard' it in my head in my mothers voice, as two of my younger brothers have autism spectrum disorders. I remember every time they've managed something that she didn't know if they'd ever be able to do, and how happy she was about it.

Even though they're my brothers, I know little about what specifically affects them, i just know them for who they are, but even I've sen so much progress over the years. Slow certainly, but it's astounding how much they're coming along.

I came here via stumbleupon, and I'm glad I did. My own kids have just gone to bed, so I'll have time to have a read through your stories.

Pleasure to 'meet' you.
