First off…you stink! Here I am shirking(sp?) my duties as a public school teacher just to see if I can get a glimpse of my niece’s soon-to-be possible name. Couldn’t you have made a poll and let us vote on the possible choices. We did that and even though we didn’t go with the most popular choice, it was fun getting feedback.

My guess is that it will be a “joint” decision.

As a devout Hawkeye fan, I gently pushed for both Hayden and Herky when Pookie was being named but knew that my ability to stay married rested on not picking names because they entertained me. Besides, that is what nicknames are for.

When we were picking names for our 4 kids I wanted to go with “Larry” for all of them, mainly for humor. That option was vetoed, as was the choice of “Dingbang”, which, according to our baby name book, means “Leader of the Country” in Chinese. I was really hoping to get to name at least one of of the kids Dingbang Larry but the wife wouldn’t let me.

In retrospect, her choices are probably less likely to cause schoolyard taunting and fights.
