The Thanksgiving weekend moves on to Peoria today. My Grandma and a ton of relatives live in the area so we take the all day car trip to visit once a year. But this isn’t just a fun trip to eat stuffing and chat about the little ones. No, this is the Festival Of Lights. The 23rd annual.
We have taken Pookie and Geetle every year so far. Giggles is not cleared by the doctor to go on such a long, germ filled trip (the doctor says to stay out of crowded places for 6 weeks) so her and BAGM are staying home with my parent’s dog.
My parents have a room at a hotel in Peoria complete with indoor pool so the plan is to get down there at check in time today, swim this afternoon, and then go to my Grandma’s for the parade. She lives about a half block from the parade and from her house you get a great view of the closing fireworks. Plus, she is right by the highway which makes it easy to get out of town before the rest of the traffic.
If you are ever in Peoria on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, let me know and you can watch the parade with me. It is quite a bit of fun for the little ones. But don’t take my word for it. According to the American Bus Association, it is one of the top 100 events of 2007. Yes, the American Bus Association gives it the stamp of approval.
