The way I undertand it That would be against the law in WI. Here school districts have to provide the least restictive environment possible for students. Often that is in a regular classroom with an aide. Sometimes one aide is assigned to 2 students or at least that happened in my classroom.Love MOM

Adrienne,

I couldn't agree with you more but the district will go out of their way to not provide an aide in the non-special ed class.

Getting him to recognize the echoing and supressing it is where a one on one would be handy. So as not to make the teacher interupt class and embarass him, the one on one could devlope a tap signal or something with him.

Just last week, he was sitting around with that just randomly pushing the buttons to make the noises. I told him that if he wanted to use it, he needed to play the games. He started playing the maze game and ran left and right crashing into the same walls. I showed him over about a 30 second period how to go up and down and the next thing I knew he was moving all over the maze.

I was pretty surprised by that one to considering how much trouble we've had getting him to understand the concept of a computer mouse in the past.

In the category of new skills.....did you know he could use the mouse on that silly toy computer he has? There is a game where you are supposed to run a mouse thru a maze to find the cheese. I came upon him this morning and he was doing it. Moving the computer mouse left, right, up, down, to get the cartoon mouse thru the maze and eat the cheese. I had no idea he could do that. He took it with him to the eye doctor and played the maze game 3-5 times while Geetle was in the exam chair.
