Sippy Cup Review of the Week

10 Little Rubber Ducks by Eric Carle

The book is extremely creative and our 2 year old daughter told me that her favorite part was the painting of the pictures. The story is based on a newspaper article Eric Carle read about rubber ducks and other bath time toys that went overboard from a container ship. It’s really funny because the captain in Carle’s story says, “10 rubber ducks overboard!”

Each of the ten yellow rubber ducks float to different parts of the ocean and get to “see” a variety of sea animals and birds. The alive animals and birds are just as curious about the rubber ducks as your little one will be with them. There is a fun rubber duck sound button you can press for your little one when the 10th rubber duck finds a little duck family at the end. I only wish the button was a bit easier to press for little hands.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 sippy cups for great artistic quality (each page features a colorful hand painting), for entertainment value, for a story line based on a true story, for educational value for featuring different aquatic animals and that it’s an easy reading book for younger readers (0-4 years old).

I wrote this article for my husband, Paul that got the flu, but next week his faithful readers will get to read a piece from him. I’m a stay-at-home mom who previously was a graphic artist. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art, with a major in graphic design and a minor in drawing.
