“Uh oh” is Giggles’ new favorite thing to repeat after we say it. She’ll repeat “Da da” “Ma ma” “Uh oh” and pretty much any loud, screechy yell.
So, anyway, uh oh. Kindergarten starts tomorrow.
Pookie must be on the bus at 7:13 and Geetle about an hour later. I’ve been working from home again so I’ll be hear to take pictures, help unload dishwashers and cry.
Tonight we took the family to visit Pookie’s classroom and meet his teacher. He walked in, immediately found the reading chair next to the bookcases, picked out a book and started reading.
When people like the principal or other parents tried to say hi to him and he would start to walk away, I told him to say hi and shake hands. Shaking hands is a big part of our Kyuki-Do classes. Pookie would walk right over and shake hands and say hi. I really love the things we learn at Kyuki-Do.
Speaking of which, Pookie and Geetle tested for their first belt (yellow stripe) last night and passed with flying colors. They both did such an amazing job. I helped Pookie much less than I normally do in class and they both did a great job of following the directions. Awesome stuff.
Are your kids in school yet? How has the transition been?

Won’t you treat us to a video clip and the details of when you first noticed Gig talkin’ and squawkin’?
Good luck in Kindergarten Geetle and Pookie!
We started Kindergarten last week, and it’s been…interesting. Little E has made the transition without much problem – but he’s the biggest kid in the class (early birthday) and he’s well ahead of the curve on reading and stuff. His biggest issue has been making new friends; he’s a bit shy.
Good luck to Pookie and Geetle on their first day!
Congratulations on the yellow stripe!
We are still two years away from school, although our daughter thinks that she is going to kindergarten…not sure who told her that…
I have a feeling I’ll be a crying mess when my daughter goes to school for the first time. We’ll see. Good luck to you!
We started preschool a few weeks ago but we are homeschooling, still a transition but not with the leaving part. Hope it goes well!
